Where is IT?
by cindilola

Where is my White Picket Fence and my 2.5 kids? I’m turning 30 and it’s nowhere to be found.
I see it in the future and try not to stress about it, but OMG, for real?
Free Personalization on Favors
It’s my fault, I wasted 2.5 years of my life with a No No.  Sure he was charming and nice and sweet-but all that was just a game. I guess? He was a very good liar (that’s for another blog, lol).

So now that I’ve picked up the pieces to my life and moved on, I have met an amazing man but it’s only been 8 months. So it’s not his fault: he’s new to my life. We are still getting to know each other, but like seriously . . . . . . . .

I want my White Picket Fence and 2.5 kids. Isn’t that the American Dream?
Sure, I’m not American, so what? For an African, it’s an even sadder!

My mother once said “if you were in the village at 20 you’d have 4 kids and a husband” lol really mom?
Any whoo, I digress . . . still waiting on it. I now have to pretend I’m not rushing for it because that will scare him away. . .Jeez?

All I’m saying is . . . I’m ready for it . . . and I want it with him.

To All the Single Ladies
by Cindilola July 29, 2010

So I just started working in downtown Atlanta and I must say it’s a whole new world. Yes it’s over flowing with single black men but Ladies you are not what they want: they want your man not you. So what are you to do when you find yourself being classified as a single woman looking to mingle, and there’s no one to mingle with?

Filling Up My Social Calendar ...with Weddings
by Ima May 28, 2010

So I started a conversation with a friend by saying "it's almost wedding season in Naija" some months ago and her response was "when is it not wedding season in Naija?" Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know...when is it not wedding season in Naija? I can imagine you guys reading this and going "of course it's always wedding season in Naija"...... that's if you are familiar with with our favourite past time.

Honeymoon Movie Reviews
by Affie April 21, 2010

I had totally given up on our Naija movies refusing to pay them any attention but after a while of watching American I was offered some African movies from an Ardent watcher and I decided to try them out. I found them quite relaxing and for now I have kind of incorporated the

How to Have the Best Valentine's Day Ever!!!!!
by Cindilola February 2, 2010

Last year I made the mistake of agreeing not to do anything to celebrate Valentine's Day and to my surprise my boyfriend did nothing special for me. I was extremely upset that we spent the day fighting and mad at each other. He said everyday is Valentine's Day for us, and this is true but it's VALENTINE'S DAY!!! I didn't even

Newlyweds Financial checklist, etc
by Idara December 1, 2008

On a more serious note, today we are talking about other things you should remember in the process of joining two families. You might be completely overwhelmed by wedding preparations, but it's also important to consider your financial and legal marriages. I'm sure you've heard that when you get married, you are not just marrying the person, you also getting married to habits, desires and traits picked up from family. Some financial habits are deal breakers (for example consistently abusing money) while others may just be minor inconveneniences.

How to Have a Nigerian Wedding on a Budget
by Idara November 18, 2008

If you've not heard, the economy is shot, people are losing their jobs, people are losing their savings on wall street, but more importantly, you've already sent out the save the date announcements or you've told your friends about your wedding or you'd really rather get married before you turn 30 (for whatever reason) and next year is the year you just have to get married. Now how do you do this on a budget? You still want the beautiful wedding; nice décor, good food, good music, nice dresses, but you are concerned about money.

Ten Ways to Lose a Naija Babe
by Idara September 23, 2008

I have a lot of single friends and some married ones. Most of my married girlfriends are married to Nigerians, except for one who hooked up with a Cameroonian guy. Finding the perfect Naija King to perfect your Naija mansion seems to have become the goal of many Naija babes. So with all this cooperation from the babes, you'd think Naija guys would find it rather easy to find their own Nigerian Queen. Not so

Without a Man, I am Nothing

Like the fact that he was a man…..an African man…..better yet, a Nigerian man……made him better than me…
Because somehow, this made him superior

How to Choose the Perfect Asoebi For Your Event
by Idara August 5, 2008

Congratulations, you are engaged and you have the big fat ring to prove it. Or if you are like me, Congratulations, your very close friend is getting married and it’s time to help her make all those all important decisions. What to wear, what to serve, how to decorate, the date for the wedding, whether she really wants to marry that guy (that’s a discussion for another day) and finally....

Please Invest in Your Wedding
by Jummy August 26, 2008

Exotic flowers cascading from every corner of the room, chandeliers in their exquisite beauty dropping down from several spots on the ceiling, top of the line photographers snapping guests posing in modelesque manners, teeth glistening like pearls in the moonlight, a cake that rises for what appears to be miles, guests all chattering and plates clinking as the silverware hits the smooth enamel.

The Bridesmaid From Hell!!!
by Fairytale Blows August 26, 2008

In the interest of full disclosure, I must say that I am not the best bridesmaid a woman could have on her bridal train. In the wedding in question, I bitched about the style of the dress, the updo (which turned out to be quite beautiful if I should say so myself) and the style and color of the shoes.

But what I lacked in bridemaidism-cooperation (if such a term exist), I more than made up for in ...

Movie Review - Act of Faith
by Idara, July 7, 2008

My Experience With Aso Ebi (“and co”) and Nigerian Tailors in the U.S.
by Jummy, July 15, 2008

Being a part of a wedding in the United States is not a cheap affair. On one hand, it means a lot to be asked to be part of a wedding, but when it comes down to the costs of shopping for the bridesmaids gowns, asoebi (if a Nigerian wedding), and accessories, it could be a very expensive affair. If you have to fly down to a different state from where you reside, you might as well add on another $200, and the current gas prices don't make the burden of the costs any better. A new pro

Why I will Not Go on A Date to Olive Garden
By Fairytale Blows July 20, 2008

Don't get me wrong, I love Olive Garden……………and similar family restaurants ………truly I do….or at least I did when I was in graduate school. BUT unless we are just friends, do not take me to Olive Garden. No I am not a gold digger……quite far from it. Just follow my logic as I tally up the costs from a woman's point of view:

Dress: $80
Shoes: $75
Cost of getting your hair done (yes, we ladies try to impress the fellas): $55 (for a wash)
